How to obtain the Permits for trekking to Everest Base Camp?

After landing in Lukla and walking along the trail for around 15-20 minutes, you come to a large cement gate with a picture of a lady on both sides. Below, you'll find two buildings to enter one at a time.

At the top of the Gate, it's written Pasang Lhamu Gate (the first lady to climb Mount Everest). As you stand in front of the gate, you notice stairs descending, and beyond them, you see two buildings. As you walk down from the stairs on your right side, you will find the Khumbu municipality permit issuing office. There, you show your passport copy and pay the fees. The fee for the Khumbu municipality permit is currently NPR 3000, and you receive the permit.

After the national park permit, we got to the next building. Please provide a copy of each trekker's passport and obtain the Sagarmatha National Park permit. Sometimes, they even offer a card that can be tapped and scanned for entry and exit. But I prefer the classic handwritten license issued by the national park.

After obtaining both permits, proceed to the left building, where a police officer will be waiting to verify the licenses. After the checking is done, it will be stamped, so legally the trekkers are now allowed to trek and stay inside the national park.
