What is the Everest hotel booking
Everest hotel booking refers to booking accommodations, such as tea houses, hotels, or guesthouses, for trekkers attempting the Everest Base Camp trek. In this process, on behalf of the trekkers, we will book hotels and make the necessary arrangements available for them.
Who should book a hotel in advance for the Everest base camp trek?
Trekkers, whether going solo or in a group, who prefer to travel independently, can book tea houses and hotels directly with us to ensure they have accommodation waiting for them at the end of the day.
Trekkers going solo, especially without a guide, must book the tea houses in advance. Just imagine trekking for the whole day and, upon reaching the camp, finding out that the tea houses are packed, and then carrying your bag from one hotel to another, searching for rooms.
To make the trip hassle-free and enjoy the trek, we recommend booking the tea houses in advance.
What is the process to book a tea house for the Everest base camp trek
Booking a tea house is a straightforward process. Email us the dates and a copy of the itinerary, and we will secure the booking from Lukla to Gorakshep and back to Lukla. This will allow trekkers to have a hassle-free experience, relax, take their time, and reach the tea house, as it has been booked in advance.
Why book a hotel in advance for the Everest Base Camp trek
Booking a hotel or teahouse in Everest Base Camp is very useful, as it helps make the trip hassle-free and avoid unwanted crowds. Trekkers can take their time to reach the camp.
In places like Lukla, Namche, and Dingboche, numerous accommodation options are available. However, in areas like Tengboche, Lobuche, and Gorakshep, hotels are scarce, with only 4-5 options available, which can be frustrating during the peak season. Bookings are made in advance, so securing a room for the night can be challenging and frustrating.
What happens to the tea house's booking when the flight is delayed or rescheduled?
In the event of a delay or rescheduling of the flight, we will reconfirm the booking at the teahouses according to the revised itinerary. There are very few hotels in Tengboche, Lobuche, and Gorakshep, in case trekkers arrive late or take time to reach the next camp or destination. Even in that case, the room will be held as it has already been booked; however, if the itinerary is changed, we need to reconfirm the booking for the teahouses.
What happens when a trekker takes time to reach the tea house?
In case trekkers take longer to reach the teahouses or lodges, we will be in touch with the clients and the teahouses to inform them about the situation. As bookings can sometimes be excessive, and the teahouses have limited rooms, we need to arrange for them to be aware of the problem.
What types of tea houses are available, and what’s the difference at EBC?
There are two types of tea houses available along the Everest Base Camp trekking trail: basic lodges or teahouses, and comfortable or luxury tea houses. The difference between a basic tea house and a comfortable tea house is:
Comfortable tea house | Basic tea house |
Rooms with electric blankets | Rooms with a basic bed and blankets |
as charging inside the room | Doesn’t have a charging station inside the room |
Has an attached bathroom | Has a shared toilet on a single floor |
A hot shower is included. | The cost of a hot shower is an additional charge. |
What is the cost difference between a basic tea house and a comfortable tea house?
The cost difference between a basic tea house and a comfortable tea house is not a wide gap. If we break down the cost
Basic tea house | Comfortable tea house |
Room cost for 11 days – 100$ | Room cost for 11 days – 300$ |
Electric blanket (20 dollars per night) 20*11 – 220$ | Electric blanket - included |
Shower costs extra – 8 dollars per day 8*11 – 88 $ | Shower cost – included |
Device charging cost – (3-5 dollars per hour) Around 100$ | Device charging cost – included |
Sharing a toilet with a Western commode | Private toilet with a Western commode |
So, if we do the math, the cost for a basic tea house, including the use of its facilities, ranges from $250 to $ 280. Without using the electric blanket, the comfortable tea house will cost $300, with the same facilities.
Booking and going with the option of a comfortable tea house is generally a wise decision, as it reduces the extra day-to-day costs of the trek.

Note: In places like Lobuche and Gorakshep, attached bathrooms are not available due to the temperature, as the pipelines and water freeze due to the cold weather. The water is frozen, which prevents the flush from working, and the toilet can emit a foul smell, making the attached washrooms unavailable.
Lobuche and Gorakshep are located in a remote area at a high altitude, which has significantly limited options for power; the available options are either a generator or solar power. For generators, the fuel is difficult to transport to the top, and this location, being in a national park, has restrictions regarding the use of generators. So, the only remaining option is solar power. Even solar power must be maintained and preserved for charging and lighting, making it challenging to manage effectively.
