Tamang Heritage Trail, a moderate adventure where you can observe age-old custom and colorful culture of mid hills people of Langtang Himal, the Tamang ethnic tribe origin of Tibetan and Mongolian descendant, migrated into mid hills of Nepal where history dates back from past thousands of years.

Truly an inspiring short country walks of more than week duration where walk leads you to immerse within beautiful scenery of high snow-capped mountains of Langtang and massive Ganesh Himal in the harmony of local ancient traditions of Buddhism religion.

A pleasant and scenic walk on high mid hills within impressive villages with constant views of snow-capped peaks leading you into an enchanting forest covered with tall rhododendron-magnolia-pines and fir trees, in spring this whole area will be a paradise when wildflowers are in full bloom.

Tamang Heritage Trail starts with an exciting overland drive from the capital Kathmandu to reach at Rasuwa district around Langtang Himal areas within the land and home of Tamang the indigenous people of Mid Hills Himalaya famous for craftsmanship and warm hospitality.

As walk progress visiting from one lovely village to another including its old monasteries of great interest and then heading back to Kathmandu with fond memories and fascinating time on Tamang Heritage Trail Trekking.

Starting our wonderful adventure with morning overland journey towards Langtang Himal area, as drive leads past Kathmandu valley rim heading north west to reach at Dhunche, the headquarter town of Rasuwa district within Langtang Himal, the home Tamang people the hill tribe of Central Himalaya.

From drive leads downhill on zig-zag winding road to reach at Syabrubesi for first overnight stop within Langtang area.

The first-day walk of this fabulous journey leads towards fairly large and interesting Tamang areas at  Gatlang village, where our route leads north-west trying to avoid as much using the old trail away from a motor-able road above the main road.

As walk enters into high hills with the superb scenery of surrounding landscapes as our out trail leads ups and down and then reaching our destination for an overnight stop at the impressive village of Gatlang.

Here with time to visit its traditional villages and monasteries interwoven with Buddhism culture and heritage, greeted by friendly villagers in traditional custom.

The morning begins on leaving this interesting nice village Gatlang heading North West walking on the neat stone paved steps for a while, past terraced farm fields of millets and barley with ever-present views of massive Ganesh Himal with Manaslu and Langtang Himal.

As walk proceeds reaching our overnight stop at Tatopani village, a place with hot natural spring, where name Tato Pani derive from.

Here enjoy leisure afternoon visiting its nice Tamang houses of intricate carving on windows and doors and then refresh yourself in the hot spring located near to the village.

On leaving Tato-Pani enjoying its warm pools and cultural villages, as morning walk leads on the trail towards Tibet border for few hours to reach Thuman village via high Nagthali ridge.

A gentle walk follows on the gradual winding path towards the north and then with the climb for some hours encountering few short descend overlooking views of Ganesh Himal and Langtang Himal, as walk leads enter into the cool shade of alpine woodland then reaching Nagthali village.

Here with the possible lunch stop, and then continue walks to our overnight stop at Thuman village with ample time to explore around this nice remote farm village of immense culture and age-old heritage.

After a wonderful time on this rural farm village with views of snow-clad peaks, morning walk starts with a climb to a ridge with the more super scenery of surrounding green landscapes dotted with villages and of mountains.

As walk progress heading into the nice forest full of rhododendron, pines and oaks trees and then slowly our day comes to an end on reaching Briddim village for an overnight stop.

Morning walks begins on leaving Briddim village heading back to Syaburbesi as our route leads on the quiet path into deeply forested areas within rich vegetation with chances of spotting some wildlife around this areas, famous for elusive and endangered Red Panda that habitats.

As walk progress walk leads to short ups and downhill to reach a main trail of Langtang at Lama Hotel located by the upper Trisuli River known as Langtang Khola (stream).

Last day walk of this marvelous journey leads back to Syabrubesi, as morning trek leads on the same trail with much downhill through farm villages and terraced fields and eventually reaching Bhote Kosi River which later joins with Trisuli River, after crossing a suspension bridge a pleasant walk brings you at Syabrubesi for last and final overnights around Langtang Himal area and at Rasuwa district.

Morning drive back to Kathmandu on a same interesting highway with exciting time as drive leads through rural farm villages and towns with views of mountains after six hours journey reaching in Kathmandu, then transfer to your respective hotels.

  • We give you a free duffel bag, trekking cap, maps, and t-shirt during your pre-trip meeting in Kathmandu. The duffel bag will be used to pack your trekking supplies.
  • For every two participants, we assign one porter. The porter will carry the duffel bag, which should weigh around 10 kg/22 lbs., throughout the walk.
  • Daypack bag for daily used stuff like cash, documents, papers, a water bottle or bladder, a camera, toiletries, sunscreen, a notebook, clothing, etc. (with a waterproof cover).
  • You can store your luggage (on-trekking items) at the hotel in Kathmandu, and we can assist and help.
  • Total luggage for the Kathmandu-Lukla flight is (15 kg (33 lbs.), including duffel (10 Kg/22 lbs.) and backpack (5 kg/11 lbs.)
  • A down jacket with a hood (cap) to be warm in altitudes above 3,000m.
  • We can provide a down jacket for USD 35. In case of loss or damage, you need to pay back the cost of USD 200 per item.
  • We can provide a sleeping bag for USD 35. In case of loss or damage, USD 200 per item must be paid.

Note: Supplies and gear can be rented or purchased in Kathmandu. Once you are in Nepal, you can buy supplies and gear for hiking if you have spare time. Don't wear short clothes inside the monasteries and religious places.
