 Altitude Sickness during Everest Base Camp Yoga Trekking

Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), also known as Altitude Sickness, is a common problem for individuals who trek in the high-altitude region. Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative with a placard will wait for you in the arrival section. Upon meeting, the representative will transfer the luggage in the vehicle and carry you towards the tourist hub of Kathmandu, Thamel, through a scenic drive in a private car. After you arrive at the hotel, the representative will assist you further in check-in. After check-in, rest in the room. Later in the evening, you will meet the company owner and discuss the trek. After the meeting, we will take you to an authentic Nepalese restaurant for dinner, where traditional dance and music are performed. After dinner, get back to the hotel to stay overnight in Kathmandu.

    Today, you will wake up early and have breakfast. After breakfast, you will take your trekking luggage and make all the necessary preparations to leave. As the preparation is completed, your guide will pick you up from the hotel lobby and take you to the domestic section of Tribhuvan airport. Upon arrival, you will board the plane and leave for Lukla. The flight takes about 30 minutes, and during the flight, you will get a bird's eye view of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Mount Makalu, Shishapangma, and many more.

    As you land in Lukla, you will have a tea break to meet with your guides and porters. After a short discussion, your actual trek will begin, and you will head towards Phakding. The first checkpoint is at Lukla, so an entry permit is required. After crossing the check post, walk in a gradual up trail followed by stone steps for about 3-4 hours to reach Phakding. Phakding is a small settlement where a mule first starts to appear. The path is narrow and slippery before arriving at Phakding.

    Upon reaching Phakding, settle in an accommodation place and rest. Savor a hot and delicious dinner and stay overnight in Phakding.

    After waking up, you will have a yoga session in Phakding. The session will last for 35 minutes to an hour. After yoga, you will prepare to leave Phakding and start your trek. Today, you will trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar, which will be a 5 6-hour walk. Continue the uphill climb and pass some notable villages like Monjo and Jorsale. Upon reaching Monjo, you must enter at the check post as the Sagarmatha National Park starts from here. After the check post, continue the hike towards Jorsale, which will be the stop for lunch. Savor local cuisine along the bank of Dudh Khosi River located in Jorsale. After lunch, move towards Namche bazaar, another three-hour walk. A famous suspension bridge named after Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Edmund Hillary, known as the Tenzing Hillary (first to summit Everest) suspension bridge, is crossed, after which you will continue to walk for another two and half hours to reach Namche.

    As you reach Namche, settle in a place of accommodation and have dinner. After dinner, you can rest and spend the night in Namche Bazaar.

    Today you will wake up, get refreshed, and prepare for the yoga session with a backdrop of Mount Everest. Then, after yoga, you will rest for a while and have breakfast. After breakfast, you will spend your acclimatization day in Namche. You will explore places in and around Namche. Trekkers can go to Sagarmatha National Park Museum to learn about Everest's rich mountaineering history. Another popular acclimatization spot in Namche is the Everest View Hotel. This location is about an hour and forty-five minutes hike from the Namche Bazaar, and the altitude gain is about 300-400 meters, making it an ideal location to adapt to higher altitudes. Similarly, Everest View Hotel provides an excellent view of Everest with splendid sunrises and sunsets.

    Other attractions in Namche Bazaar are Syangboche Panorama View Point, Sherpa Cultural Museum, Sherpa Panorama View Point, and the Irish Pub. If you are visiting on a Saturday, visit the Saturday market in Namche, where vendors from all over the Everest region come to sell their goods.

    After a well-spent acclimatization day, return to the hotel in Namche and savor delicious cuisine for dinner. After dinner, take a whole night's rest and stay overnight in Namche Bazaar.

After walking for about 3 hours, you will reach Phunkithanga, where lunch is served. After moving past Phunkithanga, you will then go towards Tengboche. After reaching Tengboche, one must visit the Tengboche monastery, which is believed to be the oldest in the Everest region.

    There is also a 16th-century footprint on a rock, which is believed to be of a monk who meditated in the monastery. Also, there are only five hotels in Tengboche so that booking can be helpful. Similarly, mountain goats can be seen in this section. After exploration, continue towards your hotel and rest. You will savor authentic drinks and cuisines at dinner. After dinner, stay overnight in Tengboche.

    You will feel refreshed and ready for the yoga session as you wake up. Get rejuvenated and find mindfulness in the lap of the Himalayas. After some yoga sessions, you will have breakfast and prepare to march to Dingboche.

    As you move ahead of Tengboche towards Dingboche, you will gain a 500m altitude once you reach Dingboche. However, before reaching Dingboche, you will pass through Deboche, a small valley in the rhododendron forest. After Deboche, you will reach Pangboche, the gateway to Ama Dablam Base Camp, and mountain goats can be seen along the route. In Pangboche, a sherpa monk blesses every trekker who visits the place. The Pangboche monastery is also a major highlight in this area. After spending some time in Pangboche, you will move towards Somare for lunch and trek another 3 hours to reach Dingboche.

    After reaching Dingboche, settle in a place of accommodation and get served some delicious cuisines on the menu for dinner. After dinner, you will rest and spend the night in Dingboche.

    You will wake up early and prepare for your yoga session in Dingboche. After your session, you will get a rejuvenating breakfast and ready to explore places in and around Dingboche.

    Today is your second acclimatization day after Lukla, so you will have the day to properly acclimate by ascending to the higher altitude and returning to Dingboche. You will hike to Nangkartshang Peak, where you will gain an altitude of 800 meters and return to Dingboche. The route towards the peak is a steep uphill climb which takes about three hours. Once you reach the viewpoint, you will see the magnificent view of Ama Dablam, Island Peak, Lhotse, Makalu (3rd highest mountain in the world), Thamserku, and Kong de.

    As you spend time in the viewpoint and adequately adapt to the low oxygen level, you will come back through the same route, which will take about one and a half hours to reach Dingboche. If you have more time, you can explore the beautiful settlement of Dingboche, or you will go to your accommodation place and savor some cuisines. After that, rest and spend overnight in Dingboche.

    Wake up for a smooth yoga session with our experts, and then you will have breakfast. After breakfast, you will continue the trek towards Lobuche, which will take about 4-5 hours. The trail starts with a gradual uphill climb to reach Thukla, which takes about two and a half hours. As you reach Thukla, begin the adventure of crossing the steep uphill climb of Thukla Pass, which is considered the most challenging section of this Everest Yoga Trek Itinerary.

    Once you reach the top of Thukla Pass, you will see a 360-degree view of the surrounding mountains with a lower view of the Pheriche Valley. Thukla Pass's top is a memorial site for climbers who previously attempted Everest. Afterward, you will gradually climb uphill for 45 minutes to reach Lobuche.

    As you reach Lobuche, you will settle in a place of accommodation and rest until dinner is served. After dinner, you will spend overnight in Lobuche.

    Today, you will wake up early and have breakfast so you can leave for Everest Base Camp, the main highlight of the Everest Base Camp Yoga Trekking Package. The trek up to Gorakshep is 3 hours, starting from Lobuche Pass with a gradual uphill trail. From there, you will walk above the glacier surface, full of ups and downs. The end trail to reach Gorakshep is a steep downhill. After reaching Gorakshep, stop for lunch. Then, continue towards Everest Base Camp, about two and a half hours. The route continues to the Khumbu Glacier, which is relatively flat. Viewing the Khumbu glacier, you will continue an uphill followed by a downhill trail to finally reach Everest Base Camp.

    Once you reach the Everest Base Camp, you will spend time there mesmerizing the view. You can see the panoramic view of the mountains of the Everest region. Be sure to click photographs at the famous Everest Base Camp rock marking as proof of reaching Everest's base camp. You can enjoy the full view of the giant Khumbu glacier. As the exploration completes, continue the descent towards Gorakshep, which will take about two hours, where you will have dinner and spend the night.

    After you wake up, you will have breakfast and trek towards Kala Patthar, the highest point of this trip. The route to Kalapatthar is an entirely steep climb up, which takes about 2-3 hours. Once you reach the top, you will see the beautiful sunrise view with the panoramic view of the mountains. The best view of Mount Everest can be seen from Kalapatthar.

    After the quick exploration, you will come back to Gorakshep, which will take about one hour, where you will have lunch. Then, you will continue the return journey through Lobuche, Thukla, and finally, Pheriche, which will be your stop for the night.

    Once you reach Pheriche after a 5-6 hour walk from Kalapatthar, you will have dinner in the available accommodation option. Spend overnight in Pheriche.

    Today, after breakfast, you will continue the journey toward Namche Bazaar from Pheriche. The trip commences initially through a zigzag down to reach Deboche. After reaching Deboche, continue the ascent with a steep climb to Tengboche. Then, the path is downhill to get to Phunkithanga. Likewise, the path after Phunkithanga is a climb towards Kenjuma la followed by a relatively flat route to Namche, a total of 4-5 hours walk from Pheriche.

    Once you reach Namche, you will settle in a place of accommodation and have dinner. You will spend overnight in Namche.

    After waking up, prepare your yoga mats for a final yoga session in the mountains. After the session, you will have breakfast in Namche and leave for Lukla. The initial route from Namche to Lukla to reach Jorsale is downhill. After Jorsale, the path is a zigzag downhill until Ghat. Finally, after that, the path is then a gradual climb to reach Lukla. This walk takes about 5-6 hours after it commences. Upon reaching Lukla, settle in a place of accommodation and have dinner. After dinner, you can rest and stay overnight in Lukla.

    Today is your last day in the Everest region. Be sure to wake up and have breakfast according to your flight schedule. After all that, make sure you have all your belongings packed and ready. As the preparation is complete, walk down to the Lukla airport. You will be given a round-trip ticket at the start of the journey. When you reach the airport, reconfirm the ticket with the company and the airline. Your guide will handle all the logistics, and you will board the plane to leave for Kathmandu.

    You can again see the Khumbu region's magnificent beauty from up top. You will savor all the mountain memories and reembrace all the activities you did until reaching Kathmandu. After this short 30-minute flight, you will arrive at the Kathmandu domestic section, where a representative from Holiday Planner Nepal will be waiting to pick you up and transfer you to your hotel. You will check in and then rest or even buy souvenirs. Later in the evening, you will have a farewell dinner where you will meet the company owner and share all the experiences of the mountains.

    After dinner, you will return to the hotel and stay overnight in Kathmandu.
